Dear reader,
My name is Ahmad Abdo I am a student at CPCC doing a research project on supplements awareness. The reason for my interest in this topic is because I have a personal connection with a manager of optimum nutrition company. He has told me a lot of helpful information on his work and his experience with supplements. His story inspired me to look in to supplements and to see if they true help. In this multi-genre project, you will see deferent representations of information on supplements. This project should inform those that are interested in taking supplements. The goal of my research is to insure those looking trying supplements are about to get the maximum results with minimum side effects.
Thank you,
Ahmad Abdo

The protein mix was developed from research done on different supplements and natural protein. I learned about different protein mixes and their effects on the body. The Animoto program I used to make this slide show was very successful compared to power point. Instead of being a slide Animoto gives the user a lot of speeds and effects that PowerPoint does not offer. I found this program easy to use. The only problem I ran in to was loading the video to Weebly. Weebly does not allow videos without an upgrade in their website software. Instead of embedding the video I had to post it on YouTube to and link it from there. If I could have done anything different I might have videoed my self-making the protein mix and my review on it.
Refliction: I learned the effects of Whey protein in a short period of three months. The easiest thing was finding the program for the graph. What was most problematic was reflecting the data accurately. I had trouble drawing the lines. What I would have done different was find more information on other protein forms like Whey protein and showed the data next to Whey protein. With multiple results the positive effects of supplement would be clearly shown.
this is a funny cartoon shows a big guy takes supplements and works out and the other guy is his skinny friend that he has not met him in a while and his friend was surprised from how big his friend got. i chose this genre to send a message in a funny to people that working out and taking supplements will help the person reach their goals faster.

There has been a debate for many years, do supplements work and what are the side effects. With over fifty percent of the United States population taking some form of supplements. These consumers have allowed supplement industries to receive an estimated 20 billion dollars, this year. This paper will discuss the various forms of supplements, and the various ways supplements can affect the body. To hopefully persuade someone who is interested in taking supplements to take the precautionary steps in ensuring maximum results and minimum side effects.
First a supplement is something that completes or makes an addition. There are many forms of supplements available to consumers. These supplements range from vitamins, fish oil, creatine, whey protein, casein protein, etc. Each one of these supplements and the ones that were not mentioned specialize in different areas. For example creatine is an amino acid that allows the body to have an increase in energy, and fish oil have been linked to help the heart and blood system.
With over fifty percent of the United States population using supplements, this group no longer consist of just athletes, and body builders. Supplement consumers now consist of men, women, adolescents, elderly and many nationalities. There was a study conducted that asked supplement consumers why they used supplements, and the reason was to improve or maintain general health. Many people are realizing the benefits that supplements can offer an individual.
Another reason why people should consider taking supplements, is because in order for a supplement manufacturer to allow a product to be available to consumers it must be passed by the Food and Drug Administration. In 1994 congress emplaced the: Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act. This act specializes in dietary supplements and the ingredients that they consist of. If a supplement product does not meet the FDA, and Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act guidelines it will not be available to consumers. For a supplement product to be approved it must prohibit poisonous or deleterious substances, prohibition of contamination with insanitary or injurious substances, prohibition of unapproved color additives, prohibition of significant or unreasonable risk of illness or injury.
Many supplement products list the ingredients that a particular product consist of. There are ways of ensuring a consumer is not consuming an ingredient that can be harmful to them as an individual. One is to get the help of a doctor. What this will do is allow the doctor to observe the consumer, and make sure they are not having any adverse effects. Also the doctor can run test on an individual to make sure they are not allergic to any products that are listed in a particular product.
Thus far this paper has discussed the different consumers who use supplements and the reasons they use them. Unfortunately, like anything else in life nothing is perfect. There has been links to some supplements that have caused individuals to become ill, and in some cases result in death. These allegations have not been confirmed that supplements being properly used were solely the cause of someone’s death.
This paper has hopefully persuade someone who is interested in taking supplements to take the precautionary steps in ensuring maximum results and minimum side effects. In anything in life comes risk. With the right supervision and the right research on a particular product, supplements can benefit an individual in various ways.

The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act defines a dietary ingredient as a vitamin; mineral; herb or other botanical; amino acid; dietary substance for use by man to supplement the diet by increasing the total dietary intake; or a concentrate, metabolite, constituent, extract, or combination of the preceding substances.
Unlike drugs, supplements are not intended to treat, diagnose, prevent, or cure diseases. That means supplements should not make claims, such as “reduces pain” or “treats heart disease.” Claims like these can only legitimately be made for drugs, not dietary supplements.
Dietary supplements include such ingredients as vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids, and enzymes. Dietary supplements are marketed in forms such as tablets, capsules, softgels, gelcaps, powders, and liquids.
Under existing law, including the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act passed by Congress in 1994, the FDA can take action to remove products from the market, but the agency must first establish that such products are adulterated.
